So what is it about the CBS series that continues to top ratings and pull in viewers year after year? Well, Jim Parsons has an idea as to why the show is so popular, and it’s pretty spot on. TBBT is the number one comedy on television in America, and has already been picked up for a 12th season, well before its 11th season has even started.
The Big Bang Theory perpetuates this pernicious trope in its own way. Our four geeks sometimes have touching behaviors towards women, but unfortunately, these moments are supposed to gloss over all the other sequences that are resolutely problematic. Each one of them shows a facet of the “cute misogyny” syndrome.

Despite originally being met with scorn from some critics, “The Big Bang Theory” quickly became one of the most popular shows on television after it originally aired in 2007. The show has regularly pulled in average viewing figures of between 18 and 20 million viewers ever since its sixth season, while, because of this huge success, its leading triumvirate Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, and Kaley Cuoco have been paid $1 million per episode since season 8. By the start of season 10 Simon Helberg and Nayyar had signed contracts to receive this sum, too.

It has already been confirmed that “The Big Bang Theory” will at least return for two more seasons, but now one of its leading actors Kunal Nayyar has admitted that the hugely popular sitcom could easily end after season 12. “I’m not saying it’s the end after season 12, but we know that this incredible, special thing is going to come to an end, and sooner rather than later,” Nayyar explained to Digital Spy. “I think all of us are at least beginning to feel a little bit nostalgic about the time we’ve had.” “The Big Bang Theory” will return to US screens with its 11th season on September 25, 2017, while season 12 will eventually follow in 2018.
