In case you haven’t seen it, Superior Donuts is set in a gentrifying Chicago nabe, and Hirsh’s character is an old school shop owner who’s coping with an energetic Frank, an employee who’s eager to make changes and give the place some modern flavor.

Guerrero will board “Superior Donuts” as a series regular. The actress will play Sofia, a food truck owner who will compete with Arthur’s (Judd Hirsch) donut shop and will become Franco’s (Jermaine Fowler) potential romantic partner. The upcoming season will also feature two different prisons and executive producer Lauren Morelli told The Hollywood Reporter that there will be a shift.

Guerrero is best known for playing Maritza Ramos on the series “Orange Is the New Black,” for which she has won three Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, as well as her role as Lina on JANE THE VIRGIN. In 2016 Guerrero released the memoir In the Country We Love: My Family Divided, which recounts her personal story of the real plight of undocumented immigrants in this country.”

The show’s producers revealed that they picked Guerrero partly because they loved her work on “Orange Is the New Black.” “Superior Donuts” season 2 will premiere on Monday, Oct. 30, and production is already underway. The number of episodes, however, has not been determined.
