‘We need our president to speak directly to us and tell us the truth,’ says actor Morgan Freeman. RUSSIAN INVESTIGATION. Morgan Freeman calls for US president Donald Trump to speak out against the interference of Russia in the the 2016 US elections. WASHINGTON DC, USA – “We have been attacked. We are at war,” says Morgan Freeman. He adds: “This is no movie script.” The group is led by Rob Reiner, actor and director of movies like When Harry Met Sally, and former national intelligence chief James Clapper, who has spent much of the last 8 months scolding President Donald Trump for not admitting Russia interfered in the 2016 election.

While insisting that the Kremlin’s election interference is “no movie script,” Morgan said, “we need our president to speak directly to us and tell us the truth.” “We need him to sit behind the desk in the Oval Office and say, ‘My fellow Americans. During this past election, we came under attack by the Russian government,” Freeman demands Trump to say, adding, ‘I’ve called on Congress and out intelligence community to use every resource available to conduct a thorough investigation to determine exactly how this happened.’”
The video is part of Hollywood director Rob Reiner and Atlantic senior editor David Frum’s new initiative called the Committee to Investigate Russia.
Reiner has long been a politically active figure; he and his wife founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights, which fought to overturn the gay marriage ban Proposition 8 in the state of California. Although the Committee to Investigate Russia doesn’t explicitly reference Trump and special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia inquiry, this can’t be great news for the American president. If only Trump’s biggest problem was trying to find a girlfriend.

Russia’s meddling in the 2016 elections and allegations about the Trump campaign’s collusion with the Kremlin have dominated the national news and political discourse for more than a year. While no evidence of wrongdoing on the president’s or his team’s behalf has been proven, both the House and Senate Intelligence committees have launched investigations, and former FBI Director Robert Mueller is leading a separate investigation.
